HARRISBURG, Sept. 20 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst, D-Montgomery/Phila., today announced the influx of $116,360 in state funding earmarked for a flood mitigation initiative in the 152 nd Legislative District. Funding was granted through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Guenst said this funding came by way of the CFA’s Flood Mitigation Program and will help the Upper Moreland Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority protect the wastewater treatment plant in Upper Moreland and Hatboro Borough. “Ensuring the wastewater in our community is properly handled and secured is vital to the overall well-being of our district,” Guenst said. “My office will continue to advocate for state funding that will both keep our residents safe and the local environment sustainable for years to come.” More information about the CFA and its programs is available here . HARRISBURG, Sept. 6 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst, D-Montgomery/Phila., announced Tuesday that funding awarded in the 152 nd Legislative District will go toward the acquisition of nearly 20 acres of green space in Hatboro and Upper Moreland Township. The funding was approved by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to be used for the rehabilitation and expansion of parks, greenways and other natural spaces. “Securing funding for the expansion, rehabilitation or acquisition of land in our community is key to ensuring the 152 nd Legislative District remains a destination hub in the commonwealth,” Guenst said. “My office will continue to advocate for greenspace funding in the future. The beautification of our environment is essential to leaving behind a better community for our children.” The approved funding includes: $200,000 to Upper Moreland Township to go toward the acquisition of approximately five acres along Woodlawn Avenue for passive and active recreation. $204,200 to Hatboro to go toward the acquisition of approximately 14 acres along Spring Avenue for a new community park. Guenst said the state approved 330 projects throughout Pennsylvania to fund new recreational opportunities, conserve natural resources and revitalize local communities. HATBORO, Aug 24 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst, D-Montgomery/Phila., alongside Head Consul of the Consular Office of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia, the Honorable Daesup Chung, and staff celebrated a hometown hero today, awarding Hatboro resident and Korean War veteran Ira Bellew the Korean Peace Medal for his actions during the Korean War. “A cornerstone of my time in office always has and will continue to be geared toward veteran initiatives and outreach,” Guenst said. “Members of my staff – myself included – are veterans. We understand and recognize the importance of taking care of those who put on that uniform. Today is another example of our mission to give credit and admiration where it’s due. It was an honor to take part in this event.” The Korean Peace Medal, Guenst explained, is a medal from the Republic of Korea that acknowledges U.S. servicemembers for defending South Korea during the Korean War. The medal can also be awarded posthumously to a spouse or family member. Guenst said that the award is available to Korean War veterans who have a DD-214 discharge document showing a United Nations Peacekeeping Medal or Korean Service Medal in the awards section.
