Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America’s mission is to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who served or are serving our country, and teach children the value of freedom. Each year, I am honored to be asked to the Wreaths Across America event at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. This year’s theme was “Live With a Purpose” and was held this past Saturday in Jonestown, PA. As this year marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, Pennsylvania’s WWII veterans were the special guests. Being able to honor veterans in such a special way will always hold a big place in my heart.

Pet Meet & Greet Event

The Pet Meet & Greet event held at my office on Saturday was a howling success! We had several kitties and dogs on hand from Hart 2 Heart Cat Rescue and W.A.G.S. Dog Rescue and several community members stopped by to check out the pets up for adoption. Applications were put in for both puppies and kittens and we were able to find some of them “fur”ever homes. Information on dog licenses was available and is always available in our office. Remember - it’s Pennsylvania law to license all dogs that are at least 8 weeks old when purchased or adopted, or 3 months old, whichever comes first.

Making Ornaments with Queen of Angels 4th Graders

Last week, I stopped by my alma mater, Queen of Angels School, in Willow Grove to make Christmas ornaments with Ms. Cartlidge’s 4th-grade class. I read them one of my favorite books – The Little Red Sleigh – and we shared a snack and juice box. Then we made ornaments – one they took home, and one now adorns my District Office tree! They were such polite and respectful kids! They asked me a lot of wonderful questions about my job as a State Representative and who was famous when I was young! I look forward to seeing them all in May when they come to Harrisburg for a school field trip and learn all about state government. Thanks, kids, for helping me spread the holiday cheer!

DEP Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Awarded to Abington Township

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has awarded more than $2.55 million to improve air quality in communities through cleaner fuel transportation infrastructure. The 2024 Alternative Fuel Incentive Grant (AFIG) funding to municipalities and businesses will fund clean school buses, electric vehicle chargers, and other projects to lower air emissions from transportation.

This grant program awarded funding to 14 recipients for 16 projects.

Congratulations to Abington Township for being awarded $75,000 to install five dual-plug Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations at three locations for use by the Township's fleet and the general public and $15,000 for the purchase of two Class 1 passenger EVs.

Meeting with Gaudenzia’s Kindred House

Gaudenzia Organization emerged as one of the nation’s first providers to offer addiction treatment specifically designed for pregnant women and women with children. Today, they continue that legacy offering evidence-based, person-centered care that is trauma-informed, culture-informed, and gender-responsive.

I was able to visit their Kindred House which is a treatment facility in West Chester, PA where women can bring their children with them into treatment without fear of losing custody while seeking care. They are doing such good work that helps so many women and children in our communities get a fresh start. I will continue to support their work in any way I can.
