EBENSBURG, March 28 – State Rep. Frank Burns will host a free Senior Scam Prevention Seminar at the Nanty Glo Fire Hall on Friday, April 14. “Scams and frauds are increasingly targeting older Pennsylvanians; the good news is that there are resources available to assist seniors, their families and caregivers.,” Burns said. “I have invited the Office of Attorney General to join me in discussing and recognizing the threat of fraud in Pennsylvania’s older population.” The Senior Scam Prevention Seminar will provide crime prevention education to Pennsylvania senior citizens, 55 years or older. The goal is to bring awareness to the threat of fraud, teach adults how to avoid being victimized, and detail the proper contacts when concerns arise about safety and well-being. EBENSBURG, March 15 – To reestablish a sense of community in the district he serves, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, will host a FREE Kid’s Fair with the Easter Bunny at the Young Peoples Community Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1. The event is open to children 12 or younger and includes a free lunch and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring a camera for photo opportunities. Also attending the fair will be representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police, Game Commission, and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources distributing educational materials. “I try to hold this event each year; it is great to see the community come out and be together,” Burns said. “The kids love to see the Easter Bunny; it becomes a core memory for them. EBENSBURG, March 2 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, will host a Seniors for Safe Driving at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County on Friday, March 31. “Seniors have been very enthusiastic and receptive toward this class, so I continue to host it,” Burns said. “My office will take any opportunity to help our seniors save money and ensure their safety behind the wheel.” The PennDOT-approved course allows mature drivers 55 or older to refresh existing driving techniques and cultivate a positive attitude toward the road. There will be no on-the-road driving or in-class testing; this will only be classroom instruction. Burns also said the course will help older drivers improve their awareness. Participating seniors will receive a 5% discount on their automobile insurance. The state-mandated discount is one of the benefits of the $16 class, which is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd. in Johnstown.
