Burns, D-Cambria, said his “American Made Jobs Plan” is a package designed to end our economy’s heavy reliance on China and other countries and reverse decades of unfair trade policies, driven by corporate greed and special interests, that have helped wipe out the middle class in Pennsylvania and Cambria County. HARRISBURG, March 16 -- State Rep. Frank Burns announced that the Greater Johnstown School District has been awarded $1.8 million to establish safe, healthy and supportive learning environments. “This grant will help GJSD provide safe learning environments to help students grow, while also preventing bullying, violence and hate,” Burns said. “I have made it my mission to address school bullying and I continue to advocate for any effort that can help.” The grant is from the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act Stronger Connections Grant to promote social, emotional, physical and mental well-being of students and staff, address family and community engagement and promote equitable and inclusive policies and practices. Since taking office, Burns has worked to address school bullying, from installing buddy benches on playgrounds, and hosting roundtables on school violence, to securing an anti-bullying pilot program for Penn Cambria School District and obtaining grants to promote school safety. “Since taking office, I’ve always worked to make sure our schools are safe environments for our children,” Burns said. “Whether that is providing safety equipment, promoting anti-bullying efforts or supporting our first responders and police officers, I want to make sure school is always a place that kids – and their parents – feel safe.” Read more

Back in 2022, Burns helped Central Cambria and Westmont school districts obtain an initial $200,000 -- $100,000 each – for the teacher training and development program for the 2022-23 school year, and again has stepped up to help secure a second round of funding so the districts can continue the program. “Our area fire and EMS responders serve our community regardless of time, day or weather, helping us when we need them the most,” said Burns, D-Cambria. “It’s no secret that volunteer companies across the state have been struggling to fundraise and find volunteers. In Harrisburg, I’ve voted for legislation that would help them out, and this funding is another example of our commitment to them.” Read more

“It’s ludicrous for DHS to need a ‘legal review’ to determine if anything related to the renovation work being done at the Hiram G. Andrews Center – which is state-owned – is a public record,” Burns said of the most recent delay. “Similarly, any reasonable person would assume that all documents related to this move are already on file, and that simple keyword searches of DHS emails could nail down within a few days the information I’m seeking.” Read more
