Krueger, Kearney to hold Pet Expo on April 22

FOLSOM, April 10– State Rep. Leanne Krueger and Sen. Tim Kearney, both D-Delaware, will host a Pet Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at American Legion Post 777, located at 137 Water St., Crum Lynne. Residents and their pets are invited to come out for giveaways, pet treats and to interact with local vendors. The Providence Animal Center will be onsite to provide a Low-Cost Vaccine & Microchip Clinic. Dear Neighbor, Public hearings on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed state budget continued in Harrisburg last week. Officials from the Pennsylvania State Police and the departments Transportation and Corrections took questions from lawmakers regarding the governor's plan for transportation safety, ensuring safety in prisons, and addressing the drug crisis in the Commonwealth. Budget hearings are on hold until April 11 and will resume with the Department of Human Services. Rep. Krueger to hold FAFSA Completion Workshop in April

ASTON, April 3 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, will host a FAFSA Completion Workshop at Aston Community Center and Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 13. “Making plans to send your high-school student to college can be stressful and the financial aid process can feel overwhelming,” Krueger said. “We are grateful to have staff from Delaware County Community College available to give professional advice and guidance on completing a FAFSA application.” The workshop is designed to help students and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application process and answer any questions. Students and parents are encouraged to come prepared with their Social Security number, 2021 W2s and 2021 1040s if they filed. DCCC staff will be available to help complete forms whether the student is planning to attend this institution or another college or university. The workshop will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aston Community Center and Library located at 3270 Concord Road, Aston. Pre-registration is required and those interested should call Rep. BROOKHAVEN, March 31 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, and state Sen. John Kane, D-Delaware/Chester, will host a free shredding and drug take back event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15. The event will take place at Upland County Park at 280 6 th St., Brookhaven, PA, 19015. Residents may bring up to four boxes of documents containing personal information. Additionally, the Delaware County District Attorney's Mobile Drug Collection Unit will be onsite collecting unwanted medications for proper disposal. E-BLAST: Raising the Minimum Wage in PA and Budget Hearing Updates

Yesterday I was in Harrisburg for a Policy Committee hearing on raising the minimum wage. I listened as direct care workers and small business owners all advocated for Pennsylvania to finally to raise our wage beyond $7.25 an hour, the lowest of every surrounding state. This is a policy issue that I have supported for years. I’m hoping we can finally make progress with this year’s budget. Read more

Krueger announces $1.6M in state grants in 161st Legislative District

HARRISBURG, March 16 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced that Commonwealth Financing Authority today approved $1.6 million in grants for several local projects in the 161 st Legislative District. The following were approved in the district: Concord Road Streetscape in Aston Township: Pedestrian safety improvements along Concord Road, $250,000. Walkable Wallingford in Nether Providence Township: Install sidewalks along Providence Road, $250,000. Civic access for Public Meetings in Nether Providence Township: Accessibility updates to the township building located in Nether Providence Township, $489,100. The project will install an elevator/automatic door opener and complete renovations to the walls, windows, and roof of the building entrance. Police Facilities & Equipment Upgrades in Chester Township: $288,075. Chester Township plans to complete building upgrades to the police department to reduce workplace hazards, improve ADA accessibility to the station, and upgrade the IT system. The project includes upgrading the building parking lot and sidewalks, the interior furnishings, evidence room, restroom, and replace the leaking roof and malfunctioning garage doors. Krueger elected to House Democratic Caucus administrator position

2023 Tax Assistance Resources

Community Action Agency of Delaware County Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). CAADC will be serving low- and moderate-income families in Delaware County. All services will be done by IRS trained and certified community volunteers and will aim to serve families who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. E-BLAST: Commonwealth Court decides in favor of equitable school funding

I’m happy to report that last week in a historic case, Commonwealth Court ruled in favor of Pennsylvania school advocates seeking to balance funding for all schools across the state. This case was originally filed in 2014 and included plaintiffs from Delco’s own William Penn School District. The case was filed on behalf of parents, school districts, and statewide organizations who argued that the commonwealth’s funding of K-12 public education is inadequate and violates the Pennsylvania Constitution. Krueger announces funding for area fire, EMS companies

HARRISBURG, Feb. 7 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware announced $173,715 in state funding to support fire and EMS services in the 161 st Legislative District. The grants originate from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
