HARRISBURG, July 14 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced today that Aston Township was awarded $370,960 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s “ Green Light-Go ” program. The funding will be used for the interconnection of traffic signals along Concord Road. “This program helps communities make necessary safety improvements,” Krueger said. “It will help Aston Township relieve congestion and improve traffic flow, which will lead to fewer accidents, keeping our residents safer. I am pleased to see the township receive this state funding.” Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursements to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Grant funding through the Green Light-Go program may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to, LED technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies. FOLSOM, July 13 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced today she will host three virtual Medicare Education events in coordination with Delaware County MEDI counselors. The events will take place on the following dates and times: Medicare Cost Sharing: Wednesday, July 20 at 2 p.m. Medicare 101: Monday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. Medigap: Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. “The Medicare process can be overwhelming and confusing,” Krueger said. “I am pleased that with the help of Delaware County MEDI counselors, we can continue to offer these sessions to make the process as smooth as possible for participants.” These virtual events are for residents approaching the age of 65 or who plan to enroll in Medicare soon. The presentations cover the various parts of Medicare, the pros and cons of traditional Medicare versus Medicare Advantage Plans, when to sign up for the different parts of Medicare, basics of Supplemental Plans, and extra financial help covering Medicare costs. HARRISBURG, June 30 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced the Rose Valley Centennial Foundation was awarded a $25,000 Keystone Historic Preservation Grant to make needed improvements at the historic Thunderbird Lodge. The grant, funded through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, will help the Rose Valley Centennial Foundation identify solutions to the long-term needs of the lodge including increased exhibition space, an ADA-compliant bathroom, mechanical systems, fire suppression, artifact storage and parking. “Delaware County is fortunate to have the Thunderbird Lodge right in our backyard,” said Krueger. “I am pleased we were able to secure this funding to support the Rose Valley Centennial Foundation and their effort to preserve the unique building and share Rose Valley’s history with our entire community.” Thunderbird Lodge is among the 10 most important early 20 th century houses in America. HARRISBURG, June 1 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger will hold two Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance events at her office in June. The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program offers eligible Pennsylvanians money back on rent or property taxes paid. On Tuesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 23, residents can call Krueger’s office at 610-534-6880, and a staff member will be available to check the status of their 2021 rebate or get help filing the application. No appointments are needed. “This event is to offer assistance to residents who still need to complete their applications,” said Krueger. “I’m glad to be able to hold these events and hopefully make the process easier for residents.” The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and individuals with disabilities 18 or older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 a year for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded. The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975. The application deadline is June 30, 2022.
