Dear neighbor,

One of my top priorities as your state representative is bringing state grant funding back to our community. I work closely with local government officials and community organizations to identify the needs in our communities and leverage my knowledge of state grants to help fulfill those needs. Last year I helped to bring more than $8 million in grants back to our district for projects that local organizations and municipal officials brought to my attention.

Today I was happy to support and announce a $53,895 grant to help Aston Township repave the parking area at the Aston-Middletown Little League Ballfield. As many people know, the current roadway has deteriorated over time with numerous potholes, cracks and rough patches. Aston-Middletown serves families in both Aston and Middletown townships, and I was happy to be able to advocate for this project.

I keep an updated list of these grant opportunities on my website.  If your organization is looking for state funding, please review these listings regularly and contact my office for help.

IN HARRISBURG

PA House Southeast Delegation

The Southeast Delegation is the largest and fastest-growing delegation in the PA House Democratic Caucus, consisting of members from Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. With 34 members, four of whom are part of the House Democratic Caucus leadership team, including me, the Southeast Delegation is one of the most influential in helping to move legislation that focuses on better schools, better jobs and safe communities.

IN THE DISTRICT

Honoring Our Heroes

On Wednesday evening, my Chief of Staff joined with Rep. Dave Delloso and Sen. Tim Kearney to recognize Officer Sara Howell of the Ridley Township Polce Department for her heroic actions in rescuing a driver trapped in his vehicle after it was struck by a train and caught fire. Due to Officer Howell’s fast and heroic actions, the driver survived and is expected to recover fully. We are fortunate to have Officer Howell looking out for our community!

PSEA Special Education Roundtable

I am grateful to the Pennsylvania State Education Association for organizing an opportunity last week for legislators and their staff to hear directly from special education teachers from across Chester and Delaware counties who shared their personal stories and challenges with a focus on educator safety, caseload, teacher shortages in Special Education, creating a least restrictive environment, and inter-agency services.

Dog License Gratitude

Thank you to the Delaware County Treasurer’s office and all the pet parents who joined our dog licensing event in Brookhaven Borough. I loved chatting with all the dog owners and hearing about their pets.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Look for Money in Your Mailbox with Pennsylvania Money Match

Keep an eye on your mailbox to see if you’ll be receiving some unclaimed property from the state. PA Money Match is a new law I voted for last year that allows the PA Treasury to automatically return property valued at $500 or less and belong to a single owner. People with eligible properties will receive a letter in the mail to confirm their address; then, about 45 days later, they’ll receive a check for their property.

The first round of PA Money Match could return more than $2 million to more than 8,500 Pennsylvanians.

PA Treasury is working to return more than $4.5 billion in unclaimed property. This property includes things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, rebates, insurance payments and more. The average value of a claim is $1,600, and PA Money Match will not automatically return properties valued above $500 or property that may have more than one owner, such as a dormant joint checking or savings account.

That’s where my office comes in. There are more than 16,000 unclaimed property holders in the 161st District.  My team wants to help get these dollars back to you. If you receive a letter from a third-party vendor, they will take a percentage, but my office will help you claim your property for FREE. Please contact us for information and help.

Or you can start here.
