Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Professional Development Training Grant (Funding Source: Federal Funding) Who May Apply : State aided public libraries and academic libraries. If the library is not fiscally independent, the application must come from the library’s parent entity. Use : Grants to bring virtual training to your organization or for individual library workers to attend virtual professional development training in principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in practices and work functions performed by library staff and experienced by library customers. Use : Projects aimed at increasing sales, export or consumer awareness of Pennsylvania hemp products. Eligible projects may include regional or national promotion. There is no in-office tax preparation this year . All services will be done by IRS trained and certified community volunteers and will aim to serve families who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. STATE PROGRAMS NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS: Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development: Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) (Funding Source: General Fund) Eligibility : 501c3 nonprofits Use : Tax credit program to encourage businesses to invest in projects by eligible nonprofits to serve low-income individuals and improve distressed areas. Projects can include affordable housing, community economic development, community services, education, neighborhood conservation, crime prevention, job training, or charitable food assistance. A special-priority category this year is COVID-19 Pandemic and Social Justice Issues, which can include a variety of COVID related services as well as projects that strive to increase awareness of or improve social justice issues within marginalized communities in Pennsylvania. Krueger to relocate Folsom office on Feb. 1

FOLSOM, Jan. 28 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger announced today that her Folsom office will move to a new location effective Feb. 1. The new office will be at 1300 E. MacDade Blvd., Suite 1, at the corner of MacDade Boulevard and Folsom Avenue. The office is just one block from the traffic light at the Swarthmore Avenue intersection. Krueger and her staff will be offering services remotely while they set up the new office. Krueger announces cafeteria grant for Delaware County Technical High School - Aston

FOLSOM, Jan. 27 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger announced that a state grant will help the Delaware County Technical High School campus in Aston upgrade cafeteria equipment. Cafeteria grants were awarded to 59 elementary, middle, and high schools by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, through federal funds. Delaware County Technical High School – Aston was awarded $7,147 for a convection steamer. “I’m happy to see Delaware County Technical High School receive this funding to help purchase the equipment needed to prepare healthy meals for students. Food insecurity has grown during the COVID-19 pandemic, making it even more important that we ensure schools are equipped to serve nutritious food, so that kids can focus on learning,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. How to reopen/reactivate a PUA claim : Log in to your dashboard Select “File for Weekly Benefits” Then select “File Your Weekly Certification to Continue Your Claim” You will see the message “You currently have a claim established however it is inactive.” Click on “here.” It will seem as if you are opening a new claim. The system knows you are only attempting to reopen the claim you already have established. Click Next. You will see the Welcome to Pennsylvania’s Pandemic Unemployment Portal Page. Click next. The next eight pages are pre-populated based on your initial claim information. You will click next after verifying the information is correct on each page. If it is not correct, you should make updates at this time. Note: This includes things such as your email, address, date of birth, education information and employment status. You will also be asked the COVID questions. PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR THE MAJOR DISASTER INFORMATION QUESTION YOU SHOULD SELECT COVID -19 NOT COVID 19 -2 If you reported that you are self-employed, the system will ask for you 2020 wages. Use: To promote high-priority specialty crops (hemp, hardwoods, honey, hops; also barley, rye, and wheat for distilling, brewing, and malting) through projects like child and adult nutrition education, participation in international standard setting bodies, improving efficiency of distribution systems, good manufacturing and handling practices, research, development of seed varieties, and pest and disease control. Krueger announces grant for Schoolhouse Senior Center

FOLSOM, Jan. 7 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger announced that Schoolhouse Senior Center will be awarded a nearly $5,000 grant to support its work helping local seniors. The grant was part of $2 million awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to be distributed equally among the 405 Area Agency on Aging-affiliated Senior Community Centers throughout the commonwealth. The grants are typically competitive, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the department instead distributed the funding to the 52 Area Agencies on Aging to allocate among all eligible centers. “I’m pleased to support Schoolhouse Senior Center, which offers incredible services to older adults in our community,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “During this pandemic, the center has worked hard and been creative to help local seniors stay active, healthy and connected. I’m grateful for the center’s work and happy to see this funding support it.” Schoolhouse Senior Center will receive funding through the allocation to the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging. Senior centers can use the funding through June 30, 2022 on a variety of projects to meet the needs of the center and participants during the pandemic, according to the Department of Aging. Applications for 2021 Pennsylvania House Scholarship Now Available Online

High school seniors interested in receiving financial assistance to help pay for college can now apply for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ Scholarship. Each year the program awards a four-year scholarship to two students preparing for post-secondary education. The scholarship is privately funded by individual and corporate donors; no tax or other public funds are used. The program is open to graduating high school seniors who are Pennsylvania residents with plans to attend a Pennsylvania college, university, or career school as a full-time student. Students must have attained a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average in high school in order to be eligible for a scholarship. Other factors taken into consideration for the awards are a student’s commitment to community, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities, and financial need. The scholarship program is administered through the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The Office of the Chief Clerk of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives assists in facilitating the scholarship program. HARRISBURG, Jan. 5 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger was sworn in today for another term as representative for the 161st Legislative District in Delaware County. “We begin a new legislative session faced with the devastation to our humanity, to our communities, and to our economy wrought by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With a renewed commitment to the well-being of our families, our friends, and our neighbors, I am honored to continue to work and fight for help for those who need it, including small businesses, frontline workers and emergency responders,” said Krueger. Krueger, who was first elected in a special election in August 2015, said she will continue to work to protect access to health care, stand up for clean air and water, and support fire and emergency services. HARRISBURG, Dec. 29 – State representatives and senators from Delaware County applauded a $1.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program award to strengthen the county’s 911 system. Through bipartisan efforts, elected officials helped secure grants to benefit more than 560,000 Pennsylvanians and help Delaware County’s first responders. This project will strengthen the security and reliability of the county’s public safety communication system. This includes 24 tower upgrades to provide acceptable county-wide communication coverage, shelter structures, an ice bridge, grounding, electric, HVAC, core work additions and 911 center equipment to communicate effectively in emergency situations with citizens, first responders and with surrounding counties in southeastern Pennsylvania. “Calling 911 and receiving a timely response has been an issue for years throughout Delaware County,” House Democratic Leader Joanna McClinton, D-Delaware/Phila., said. “Thankfully, this funding will help streamline our communications system to ensure that residents in crisis can quickly receive help and support.
