FOLSOM, April 7 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger led a bipartisan call for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to reopen access to the COVID-19 Working Capital Access Program as soon as possible by refilling the loan program with any available discretionary funds and allocating any available federal CARES Act funds to the effort. The COVID-19 Working Capital Access Program launched March 25 to provide loans for Pennsylvania small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with a total of around $60 million available. Applications quickly surpassed available funding and the program was closed within days. “Delaware County has been hard hit by COVID-19, but only 13 applications from within our county were submitted online before the program closed. Hundreds of our small businesses were shut out and unable to access this critical resource,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “The Working Capital Access program fills a unique need for our locally owned small businesses, which will be key to creating jobs and rebuilding our local economy after this health crisis. I, along with my fellow Delaware County lawmakers, believe it is imperative that the program be recapitalized as quickly as possible.” Krueger organized a bipartisan group of state representatives and senators to send a letter to DCED Secretary Dennis Davin, urging additional funding for the program. RESOURCES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES – COVID-19 STATE: The Department of Labor and Industry has issued guidance for PA employees impacted by COVID-19. Workers who are unable to work because of COVID-19 may be eligible for Unemployment Compensation benefits or Workers Compensation benefits. Information is now available on the department's website: https://www.uc.pa.gov/Pages/covid19.aspx The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has created a resource page to assist businesses impacted by COVID-19 at https://dced.pa.gov/resources/ This page will be updated as information is released by the Governor and programs or funding to assist businesses become available. The site contains links to various agencies, departments, and authorities that can assist small businesses. DCED has also a set-up a customer service number, 1-866-466-3972, as well as a COVID-19 specific e-mail address where businesses can send questions: ra-dcedcs@pa.gov The Wolf Administration is working with the General Assembly to make sure state funding is available for small business assistance. FOLSOM, March 5 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger will host two days of unclaimed property searches this month at her Folsom and Brookhaven offices to help residents of the 161 st District claim what is rightfully theirs. The Pennsylvania Treasury is holding more than $3.5 billion in unclaimed property that it wants to return to the rightful owners. Examples of unclaimed property include uncashed checks, lost stocks or bonds, closed bank accounts and more. Krueger’s staff can help residents search the database to find out if any of the unclaimed property is theirs and file a claim. The unclaimed property search events will be held as follows: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at the Folsom office, 701 E. MacDade Blvd. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at the Brookhaven office, 2 Cambridge Road. " My office has helped connect many community members with money that belongs to them. If anyone needs help determining if they might have unclaimed property, I encourage them to stop by one of my offices during these events for assistance,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. FOLSOM, Feb. 25 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger will be hosting two upcoming events to help community members access valuable state services. Krueger will host consumer protection office hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 5 at her district office, 701 E. MacDade Blvd., Folsom. A representative of the Office of the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection will be on site to answer consumer questions or field complaints, as well as provide information on how to avoid scams. “I know community members are concerned about how they can best protect themselves from scams and what they can do if they have encountered problems,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “I’m happy to host the attorney general’s office so that residents can get the answers they need.” Krueger will also host a veterans breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to noon March 7, at Herbert W. Best VFW Post 928, 1805 MacDade Blvd., Folsom. Veterans and their families are invited to enjoy a light breakfast and learn about state and local resources for veterans. FOLSOM, Feb. 19 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger recently presented a $24,000 grant to the Brookhaven Fire Co. The funding, which comes through the Department of Community and Economic Development, was awarded to help fund vehicle crash rescue tools. “Supporting first responders is one of my highest priorities, and proper equipment is essential for them to respond to emergencies,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “I’m proud to help ensure Brookhaven Fire Company has what it needs to serve our community, and I will continue to look for ways we can support fire and emergency organizations.” Rep.
