Curry took the oath of office in the state Capitol today to begin her second term representing the 164 th Legislative District, which includes Upper Darby Township, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne and Millbourne. The noon swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 207 th Legislative Session of the Pennsylvania House. Curry will also serve as co-chair of the Women’s Health Caucus. “I am honored that the residents of the 164 th have given me another opportunity to represent them in Harrisburg,” said Curry, D-Delaware. “I will continue to be an advocate for equitable funding for education, economic development and the need for affordable and safe housing.” Curry’s office can help with a variety of state-related services, including home-heating assistance, property tax/rent rebate assistance, and more. UPPER DARBY, Dec. 22 – State Rep. Gina H. Curry and state Sen. Tim Kearney, both D-Delaware, released the following statements today following a crash in Lansdowne involving a SEPTA train and a car. The accident injured three people in the car. “I am aware of yesterday’s incident involving a SEPTA train and a car on Union Avenue in Lansdowne,” Curry said. “My spirit is with the families of the three people injured, the train conductor, the passengers aboard the train and the first responders. I am praying for those involved. Rail safety is a main concern of mine as people are put in danger unnecessarily. Please stay alert and follow all traffic warning signals.” “I would like to extend prayers to those who were injured during yesterday’s train crash in Lansdowne,” Kearney said. “Accidents can occur anytime, but those incidents increase around the holidays. I urge motorists to use extra precaution when traveling. Getting home safely is the number one priority.” According to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, every year people die needlessly in automobile-train accidents. UPPER DARBY, Dec. 16 – State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, announced today that Upper Darby Township and Lansdowne Borough were awarded a total of $2,357,231 in state funding. The grants awarded include: $119,000 to Lansdowne Borough to upgrade its current records management system and purchase and install community pole cameras. $2,238,231 to Upper Darby Township to upgrade its current records management system; server upgrade; unmanned aerial system program; in-car radios; body-worn cameras and accessories; recruitment program, including Police Explorers program; retention pay and staff training. “I am pleased to see this funding awarded to our local law enforcement,” Curry said. “Upgrades in technology and equipment help keep our communities safe. I will continue to work with local departments to ensure that they are receiving essential funding.” The grants were approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as part of a new Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program , which directs the PCCD to administer $135 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding as grants to law enforcement agencies for improvements and upgrades. HARRISBURG, Dec. 9 — The Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus announced that state Rep. Gina Curry (D-Delaware) will serve as a co-chair for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session. Curry was first elected to the state legislature in 2021. Before seeking elected office, Curry had a long career as an educator and has a background in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. As a co-chair of the WHC, Curry is committed to addressing issues facing Pennsylvanians like maternity care deserts and systemic inequities in the health care system. “I consider my newest appointment to serve as co-chair for the Women’s Health Caucus an honor,” Curry said. “I look forward to working hard on the inadequate access and inequitable health care concerns that impact women in my district and across the commonwealth at alarming rates.
