This event focused on promoting the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Line (TiPS), recognizing maternal health innovation fund recipient Maternity Care Coalition (MCC), and maternal mortality review committee fund recipient Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) Organized Voices for Actions (OVA). The event also spotlighted MCC as the Southeast Maternal Health Coalition Lead and include honorary check awards for each organization’s role in advancing maternal health.

This event will bring together community-based organizations (CBOs) and stakeholders to promote the Philly Joy Bank and BirthBridge Philly and encourage connections with local services. The event will focus on maternal health initiatives, particularly highlighting the significance of the pilot program and initiative. PA Black Maternal Health Caucus Co-chair Rep. In celebration of Black Maternal Health Week, Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus co-chairs and members gathered for a reception to advocate for Pennsylvania's MOMNIBUS and Black maternal health care.

To address disparities in health care, co-chairs of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus Reps. Morgan Cephas, D-Phila.; Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware; and La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Allegheny, and caucus members introduced the Momnibus legislative package, which outlines a group of eight bills to decrease maternal morbidity and mortality in Pennsylvania.

Held annually on April 11-17th, Black Maternal Health Week is held to build awareness, activism, and community-building? to amplify ?the voices, perspectives and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people. The theme for 2023 is Our Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy!

After Crozer Health announced it is closing a number of its facilities in an attempt to cut costs “to be able to continue providing the highest quality care,” lawmakers in Delaware County saw a big issue with these planned closures on the community. Reps. Gina Curry and Mike Zabel hosted a House Democratic Policy Committee hearing to understand the impact it has had, especially on expectant mothers. Following the hearing, lawmakers walked to Delaware County Memorial Hospital to join nurses and technicians demonstrating outside the hospital. The event was called an “Informational Picket” and is the second event held by Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals regarding Crozer’s planned closures.
