This event focused on promoting the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Line (TiPS), recognizing maternal health innovation fund recipient Maternity Care Coalition (MCC), and maternal mortality review committee fund recipient Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) Organized Voices for Actions (OVA). The event also spotlighted MCC as the Southeast Maternal Health Coalition Lead and include honorary check awards for each organization’s role in advancing maternal health.

After Crozer Health announced it is closing a number of its facilities in an attempt to cut costs “to be able to continue providing the highest quality care,” lawmakers in Delaware County saw a big issue with these planned closures on the community. Reps. Gina Curry and Mike Zabel hosted a House Democratic Policy Committee hearing to understand the impact it has had, especially on expectant mothers. Following the hearing, lawmakers walked to Delaware County Memorial Hospital to join nurses and technicians demonstrating outside the hospital. The event was called an “Informational Picket” and is the second event held by Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals regarding Crozer’s planned closures.
