UPPER DARBY, Aug. 22 – State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, is pleased to announce a new date and location for Inspi-HER’d, a fun, field day event for girls in fifth through eighth grades. The rescheduled date is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at Naylors Run Park, 1567 Garrett Road, Upper Darby. It will include outdoor workshops, field day activities, special youth guest appearances and more. Lunch will be provided. “After rain forced us to cancel this event in May, I am very excited that we have a new date and location and can now move forward with Inspi-HER’d,” Curry said. “It is important for us to support the health and wellness of girls in our community in a positive and affirming way. We want them to know there are resources and help available at any stage. I am looking forward to a day of fun for all.” Curry will be joined by youth community leaders and her staff. Tim Kearney will host a free shredding and safety event from 9 a.m. to noon (or whenever the truck is full) Saturday, Aug. 20 in the front parking lot of Upper Darby High School, 601 N. Lansdowne Ave., Drexel Hill. Residents are invited to bring a maximum of three boxes or grocery bags per household. Newspapers, magazines and journals will not be accepted. All shredded paper will be baled and recycled. “By shredding unnecessary and old documents, you can protect yourself from identity theft,” said Curry. “Please join us for this community event and keep your private information out of the wrong hands.” “I’m excited to partner with Rep. Curry for this free community shredding and safety event,” said Kearney. “It’s a great opportunity for people to properly discard any sensitive or confidential information, get organized and have peace of mind while doing so. Being able to provide this free, convenient service not only helps our constituents, but it also helps our environment.” This event is rain-or-shine.
