HARRISBURG, Dec. 20 – State Reps. Leanne Krueger and David Delloso announced that Delaware County Technical High School was awarded a $50,000 state grant for the purchase of new equipment. The grant was part of nearly $1.2 million in competitive grants awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to 32 Career and Technical Centers and Area Vocational-Technical Education Schools around the state for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations. “Collaboration between our local schools and employers is essential to ensuring we have prepared students for the jobs that are in demand,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “With this grant, Delaware County Technical High School will be able to purchase equipment to ensure students have the best training possible, and I’m pleased to see this funding awarded.” Items to be purchased with the grant include automotive and welding equipment. “Pennsylvania has a workforce shortage of skilled and qualified workers,” Delloso said. “That’s why grants like this are so vitally important. It will help train the students of today for the career they will pursue tomorrow. RIDLEY PARK, Dec. 4 – State Rep. David Delloso is pleased to announce historic Eden Cemetery Co. in Collingdale was approved for a $10,000 Historical and Archival Records Care grant from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission today. “Eden Cemetery Company has provided a dignified and final resting spot to honor the lives of our community’s family members and ancestors for more than 100 years,” said Delloso, D-Delaware. “This is a historic cemetery, dating back to 1902, not only vitally important to the families of loved ones buried there but also important to the history of Delaware County and its surrounding areas.” Eden Cemetery received a $10,000 grant to support a conservation assessment and the purchase of archival quality records storage equipment for its archives. The cemetery is the steward for many of Philadelphia’s earliest African American churchyards and burial grounds from the late 18 th century. It opened on Aug. 11, 1902, despite protests. HARC grants fund projects designed to improve the preservation and accessibility of historically significant records. The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission approved 29 grants today totaling nearly $185,000. Read more
