PLAINS, June 1 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski welcomed seniors, caregivers, and families from across Luzerne County to his annual senior fair at the Wilkes-Barre Area High School on Saturday, bringing together dozens of organizations and agencies dedicated to improving the quality of life for older Pennsylvanians.
The event featured more than two dozen state, local, and community organizations offering information on healthcare, senior services, prescription assistance, veterans' programs, transportation, housing, insurance, and other resources available to older adults. Attendees also heard remarks from Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Jason Kavulich, who discussed the commonwealth’s ongoing efforts to support Pennsylvania’s aging population.
“This senior fair was a tremendous success and a testament to the strength of our community,” Pashinski said. “I am grateful to every organization, volunteer, and attendee who helped make this event possible. Our seniors deserve access to the information and services that allow them to live healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives. Events like this bring those resources directly to the people who need them most, while also providing an opportunity to build meaningful connections throughout our community.”
Pashinski thanked Kavulich for joining the event and sharing updates from the Department of Aging, as well as the many vendors and service providers who participated.
“I especially want to thank Secretary Kavulich and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging for their partnership and commitment to Pennsylvania seniors,” Pashinski said. “I also want to recognize the dedicated organizations that took the time to participate and assist attendees throughout the day. Their work makes a difference every day in the lives of our seniors.”
Pashinski also expressed appreciation to the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for hosting the event and to the FBLA student volunteers from Wilkes-Barre High School, along with Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center Culinary Arts Program for its generous donation of cookies.
Pashinski encouraged seniors and caregivers who were unable to attend the fair to contact his district office for assistance with state-related programs and services.
