SCHNECKSVILLE, Sept. 1 – State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-Lehigh, today joined Gov. Josh Shapiro in celebrating a historic $1.2 billion investment by Chobani to establish its first dairy product manufacturing operation in Pennsylvania.
According to Shapiro, the project is the largest ever private investment in Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry. It’s expected to create 900 full-time jobs over the next five years in the Lehigh Valley and expand markets and opportunities for more than 4,000 dairy farmers in in the state.
“Today’s announcement by Governor Shapiro that Chobani will be making a $1.2 billion investment in Lehigh County is another win for our region,” Schlossberg said. “It shows that years of hard work by leaders in our region continues to pay off, building on our success in attracting good paying jobs in manufacturing. While we get to celebrate this milestone today, the ongoing decisions to invest in people who form the workforce, the infrastructure like roads, public water and sewer, advanced water treatment facilities, and the Lehigh Valley’s successful farmland preservation efforts all come together to make this sort of announcement possible. The Lehigh Valley is ideally situated with access to global markets, but location must be matched with people, places and infrastructure, and there is no better place to invest in manufacturing than the Lehigh Valley.
“I am so proud of the work we continue to do in Harrisburg with Governor Shapiro’s leadership to make this announcement possible. We are fighting for our constituents, and this type of announcement shows we are winning and getting stuff done. The 2026-2027 Pennsylvania budget will make it possible for more announcements like today’s because we continue to make investments in people, agriculture, manufacturing, and connections to global markets,” he said.
Production under Chobani is expected to begin in 2027.
