Donahue announces $140K to expand career pathways for Scranton School District students

SCRANTON, Aug. 21 – State Rep. Kyle Donahue today announced that the Scranton School District has been awarded $140,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s PAsmart grant initiative.

The funding will support the expansion of access to high-quality career pathways in the advanced manufacturing, construction, digital technology and energy sectors.

“This funding builds on the state budget I was proud to support and vote for last month,” said Donahue, D-Lackawanna. “We’re making important investments in career and technical education that are helping programs grow and giving more students opportunities to pursue careers in high-demand fields. Every student deserves the chance to find a path that works for them, and this funding will help ensure our students have the skills, training and opportunities they need to succeed.”

The Scranton School District was among 17 organizations across Pennsylvania awarded funding through this round of grants, which aim to align workforce investments with in-demand jobs and expand access to career and technical education.
