Rep. Miller, lawmakers and organized labor celebrate ‘Union Apprenticeship Week’ at PA Capitol

HARRISBURG, June 26 – Union apprenticeship programs have a long, successful record of helping build the middle class in Pennsylvania. Being accepted into a union apprenticeship program offers many benefits, such as job security, access to educational and training programs, and collective bargaining power.

In order to draw attention to Pennsylvania’s apprenticeship programs, state Rep. Dan Miller and other lawmakers, along with labor leaders, held a news conference Wednesday, June 26 in the state Capitol Rotunda to celebrate ‘Union Apprenticeship Week in PA,’ which the Pennsylvania House of Representatives recognized earlier this week with the adoption of H.R. 407.

“I want to thank everyone who joined us to highlight the difference unions have been making to change lives, generate middle-class jobs and help families achieve the American Dream,” Miller said. “Few programs nationwide can match the quality of the programs that are offered here in Pennsylvania by our trades. You’re never going to find a better bang for your buck than you do with a union apprenticeship program.”
