McClinton, Williams secure $1.75 million+ for west, southwest Phila projects

Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton and state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams, both D-Phila./Delaware, are celebrating four state grants being awarded to projects in west and southwest Philadelphia that total more than $1.75 million.

PHILADELPHIA, Oct 28 - Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton and state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams, both D-Phila./Delaware, are celebrating four state grants being awarded to projects in west and southwest Philadelphia that total more than $1.75 million.

The projects were awarded using Local Share Account funds from PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, and include:

  • $1 million to renovate Community of Compassion, Inc’s food and resource distribution center.
  • $200,000 for the purchase and retrofitting of a mobile cancer center diagnosis vehicle for the Oscar C. Robinson Jr Foundation.
  • $209,931 for the purchase of two meal delivery vehicle for TCG Groceries.
  • $350,000 for community organization renovations at the Southwest Community Development Corporation.

“These state grants will help local organizations serve more people in our community. From food distribution to health care to making service facilities more accessible to clients, these organizations are improving the quality of life for our neighbors across west and southwest Philadelphia,” McClinton said. “When state, local and nonprofit entities work together, we can make a big impact on our neighbors’ lives.”
