SEPTA Public Hearing

SEPTA has proposed fare increases and service changes that would take effect on Dec. 1 if state funding is not agreed upon soon to balance their budget deficit. Two public hearings will be held this Wednesday, October 16 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You may attend these hearings in-person in the Board Room at SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market St. in Center City or remotely via WebEx. A sign language interpreter will be present during the public hearings. Click here to register to attend or speak at either hearing. If you wish to speak, you must register by the start time of that hearing.

The Philadelphia House Delegation and House Democrats have been fighting for the investments to keep SEPTA operating and move PA forward with improved transportation infrastructure. The state Senate has refused to act on these bills that the House approved with bipartisan support. Click here to find out more and send a message to the entire state Senate. Tell them you support this funding for SEPTA and transportation projects to move PA forward.

This week in Harrisburg

We were hard at work in Harrisburg this week fighting for better jobs, better schools and better communities! The PA House passed bills to protect the Affordable Care Act and provide postpartum depression education. Legislation protecting hair braiders and providing insurance coverage for speech therapy passed the Senate and is now headed to the Governor’s Desk!

I hosted students from the Harambee Institute of Science and Technology Charter School and was visited by Miss Philadelphia. Thank you for visiting and being my honored guests!
