Malagari & Collett: $250,000 secured for Lansdale to improve Cannon Avenue for drivers, pedestrians

LANSDALE, Feb. 24 – State Rep. Steve Malagari and state Sen. Maria Collett, both D-Montgomery, announced today that Lansdale Borough has been awarded $250,000 through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support the ongoing rehabilitation of Cannon Avenue.

The project will update the stormwater and sewer systems and improve pedestrian safety on Cannon Avenue, in the second phase of rehabilitation to the heavily traveled road. The grant was awarded through the CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which finances projects to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of Pennsylvania.

“This project means safer sidewalks for pedestrians and clearer roadways for drivers – both are big wins for our community,” Malagari said. “Sen. Collett and I are happy to help our local governments secure state funding for their infrastructure projects – not just because of the ways they improve daily life for our neighbors, but also because they help reduce the expense on local municipal budgets.”

“These transportation grants are key to keeping our neighborhoods safe and walkable while bringing new jobs to our region,” Collett said. “I was pleased to work alongside Rep. Malagari and Lansdale Borough officials to support this worthy project, and I look forward to continuing our work to protect pedestrians and conserve our environment.”
