Delloso announces $2.58 million in state funding for local projects

RIDLEY PARK, Nov. 13 – State Rep. David M. Delloso today announced state funding totaling more than $2,580,000 for community projects in the 162nd Legislative District.

Two grants totaling $2,000,000 were awarded through the commonwealth’s Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program to help fund infrastructure redevelopment projects. Delloso was instrumental in securing these grants by encouraging local organizations to submit grant applications, providing guidance, and communicating with decision-makers at the state level to approve the projects.

Those projects are:

  • $1,000,000 for Interboro School District to replace infrastructure in the high school that has reached the end of its useful life, including all outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure systems. The project also involves energy efficiency upgrades and renovating classrooms to accommodate modern learning technology.
  • $1,000,000 for the Borough of Sharon Hill to construct a new, 6,000 sq. ft. municipal complex to house the library, police department, municipal offices and public works garage, as well as a new recreation center.

“Students need safe places to learn, and local governments need facilities where they can run all the services they provide to the community,” said Delloso. “I’m proud to help secure funding for responsible projects like this that provide real benefits to the people I represent.”

Three more grants were awarded through the Department of Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which supports initiatives to develop new parks, rehabilitate existing spaces and protect vital natural habitats:

  • $276,000 for Glenolden Borough to coordinate urban and community forestry efforts by engaging communities in planting trees and building local environmental stewardship.
    • The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society received $1,000,000 to implement similar programs in other communities in Delaware County, including in the 162nd Legislative District, and in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

  • $304,000 for Ridley Township to develop Blackrock Park, including enhancing accessibility with new parking spots and pedestrian walkways, installing lighting, and implementing stormwater management measures. Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, was instrumental in securing this funding for the park, which is enjoyed by residents of both her and Delloso’s legislative districts.

“I’m pleased to see the state lend a hand to help keep our community’s outdoor spaces clean and green. Many families in my district enjoy Blackrock Park and all the activities it has to offer,” said Delloso. “Getting more people to plant trees may seem small in the scheme of things, but they offer tremendous community benefits, like removing air pollution, keeping streets and buildings cool, and increasing property values.”
