Earlier today, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported a new record of 5,531 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 254,387. Pennsylvania has had 28,290 new positive cases in the past week. Read more

The spike in cases that we've been seeing statewide this month is concerning. While we had held somewhat stable for a few months, the past two days we have set records for most positive COVID-19 cases in a day, and our average daily cases are the highest since April (our previous peak) and growing. “It is undeniable that 2020 has been a difficult year for Pennsylvania’s restaurants and bars, foundations of our communities and an important sector of our economy,” Ciresi wrote to the PLCB. “At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic remains a very serious threat, it is clear our restaurants need additional support to help cope with the loss of revenue they are experiencing.” Read more
“I’m generally neurotic about fire safety and prevention, so I have a monitoring system with carbon monoxide detectors,” Ciresi said. “It was an aspect I hadn’t really thought about too much until they went off. I was told by our local fire officials we were very lucky to have the system in place.” Read more
I know that many of you have been waiting to receive your requested mail-in/absentee ballots, and hopefully most of you have received them by now. Montgomery County sent out over 226,000 ballots, and they started to arrive at the end of last week. If you're still waiting and applied before Sept. 20, there's a good chance you'll get one soon. More ballots are being mailed out on a rolling basis. Read more
“This funding for the joining of our twin boroughs [Spring City and Royersford] with a rehabilitated trestle bridge is another great step toward waterfront revitalization and bringing the towns together,” Ciresi said. “Greater walkability and bike access will improve connections for residents of both boroughs to recreational trails, schools, small businesses and grocery stores, while highlighting the historic industrial link that the trestle bridge once provided.” Read more
“As somebody who very recently needed the assistance of firefighters at my house because of a gas leak, I speak with even greater admiration of and appreciation for the men and women who work tirelessly and selflessly to keep us safe in emergency situations,” Ciresi said. “This funding through CARES Act grants will provide valuable support to these companies in their ongoing efforts to protect our communities and residents.” Read more

“I am glad that Governor Wolf has listened to our requests and concerns with the previous limits,” Ciresi said. “This entire time, I have been asking why we can’t at least let our parents in to watch their children – especially high school seniors – play sports. From speaking with local school districts, I know we can safely accommodate spectators. And, with this change, we can make that happen while still maintaining social distancing and keeping safety at the forefront.” Read more
