Rep. Frank Burns July 15, 2014
JOHNSTOWN, July 15 – State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria/Somerset, today applauded JWF Industries of Cambria County for its receipt of a $1 million state grant to help with the company's expansion on Cramer Pike.
The company has been renovating a 16,000-square-foot facility that was once a World War II munitions and rail car factory, and expects to double to 200 its number of employees.
"JWF Industries is a local company, founded nearly 60 years ago in Johnstown, and approval of this funding speaks to the strength and importance of the company and what this expansion will mean to the region's economy," Burns said.
This grant is in addition to its initial $1 million grant received in 2013.
Burns said the funding comes from the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The economic development program provides state grant funding for regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects.
