Burns' resolution adopted naming May Older Pennsylvanians Month

HARRISBURG, May 5 – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has unanimously adopted a resolution introduced by Rep. Frank Burns that designates May as Older Pennsylvanians Month in the state.

"Older adults are productive, active and influential members of society," Burns said. "They share their talents, wisdom and life experience with their families, friends and neighbors, and they deserve recognition for their contributions to our Commonwealth's culture, economy and character."

Nationally, May is known as Older Americans Month. The theme for 2014 is "Safe Today. Healthy Tomorrow."

"I think we all recognize the value of injury prevention and safety awareness in helping older adults remain healthy and active so they may continue to live full lives and enrich ours," he said.

The resolution is H.R. 827.
