Burns’ vote to open some businesses forces Gov’s hand

Lawmaker urges gradual reopening as sensible approach

EBENSBURG, April 20 – One week after state Rep. Frank Burns voted with a bipartisan collection of lawmakers to safely allow businesses to reopen, the governor's office had apparently received his message loud and clear when it announced Monday it was allowing online auto sales, expanding curbside pickup and that construction activities will soon recommence in Pennsylvania.

"As we start to open Pennsylvania's economy, we must continue to listen to healthcare professionals as we strike a balance that protects the health – and economics – of our communities" Burns said. "I believe we can do this by embracing a commonsense approach, listening to experts and looking for opportunities to allow businesses to safely reopen."

Burns cautioned that the state must avoid the temptation of moving too fast as this could cause a second surge in Covid-19 cases.

Since the start of the Coronavirus crisis in Pennsylvania, Burns has led the charge in working to ensure Cambria County’s healthcare facilities have the supplies they need, and has ensured that the people of Cambria County have a voice in the decisions impacting their lives. He is also authoring a package of legislation designed to bring manufacturing back to the United States.
