Madsen takes oath for first term as state representative

HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 – State Rep. Dave Madsen took the oath of office in the state Capitol yesterday to begin his first term representing the 104th Legislative District, which comprises parts of the city of Harrisburg and Swatara, as well as the boroughs of Highspire, Paxtang and Steelton.

The swearing-in ceremony at noon marked the beginning of the 2023-24 session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Madsen said some of his priorities in his first term will be bringing sustainable business and manufacturing operations to his district, growing Pennsylvania’s economy, and raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $15.

“I am honored to represent the people of Harrisburg and its surrounding areas,” Madsen said. “It is one of the greatest honors to be asked to be a voice for friends, neighbors and residents of the 104th Legislative District.

“My staff and I can help with programs and services such as help with home heating bills, senior services, the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, prescription assistance for seniors, vehicle registration and much more."

In his first term, Madsen joins 49 other first-term members. It’s the largest and most diverse class of freshmen legislators in more than a decade.

Madsen said his office can help with a variety of state-related services. Located at 383 S. Front St. Steelton, the phone number is 717-986-1673. More information is available by visiting his website at www.RepMadsen.com
