Madsen announces over $1 Million in LSA funding for infrastructure and community projects

HARRISBURG, Oct. 22 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, announced the approval of over $1 million in Local Share Account funding for five infrastructure and community improvement projects in Dauphin County.

“These grants represent an important investment in the future of Dauphin County, and they address many needs across our communities,” Madsen said. “From improving our sewer systems to renovating public buildings and supporting local schools, these projects will ensure our infrastructure can meet the demands of today while preparing for future growth.”

The following projects have been awarded funding:

Lower Swatara Township Municipal Authority – Capital Campus Interceptor Improvements

Lower Swatara Township Municipal Authority has been awarded $250,000 for an upgrade to its sanitary sewer system. The Capital Campus Interceptor is currently at capacity, with several new developments planned in the area, including a new housing development and school expansion. The project will increase sewer capacity by upsizing 2,466 linear feet of sewer main, installing 12 new manholes, and replacing sanitary sewer laterals.

Harrisburg City – MLK Government Building Renovations Phase 1

Harrisburg City has secured $400,000 in LSA funding for the first phase of renovations to the Martin Luther King Government Building. The project will update infrastructure, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and moisture protection, as well as the construction of a new entrance canopy. These upgrades will improve public access and create a more welcoming environment for city residents.

Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority – Harrisburg International Airport Hydro Pillar Restoration

The Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority will receive $250,000 to rehabilitate a 1,000,000-gallon water tower at Harrisburg International Airport. Recent inspections identified structural deficiencies, and this project will address those concerns by restoring the tank’s interior and exterior to ensure safe water storage for airport operations and the surrounding community.

Paxtang Borough – New Borough Backhoe

Paxtang Borough will receive $124,850 to replace its 20-year-old backhoe, which is expensive to maintain and poses safety risks. The new backhoe will be shared between Paxtang and Penbrook boroughs.

Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC – Roller Nation Community Complex

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, on behalf of the Roller Nation Foundation, has been awarded $70,527 to upgrade athletic equipment at the Steelton-Highspire School District’s athletic complex. This project is part of a broader effort to revitalize the facility and will include new motorized carts, training tables, and other sports equipment to ensure student-athletes have access to safe, modern resources.
