Madsen celebrates $986,000 in DCNR Community Conservation Partnership Grants

HARRISBURG, Nov. 12 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, today announced that five Community Conservation Partnership Program grants totaling $986,800 have been awarded to enhance recreational and conservation projects in Dauphin County.
“These grants showcase the power of collaboration between state and local governments and community organizations to achieve meaningful progress,” said Madsen. “I look forward to seeing these projects come to life and make our communities stronger, greener, and more vibrant.”
The funding, awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, will support vital park, trail, and environmental restoration projects in the region.
The funded projects include:
- $300,000 - Hummelstown Borough – Hummelstown Nature Trail Development
The funding will support the creation of a nature trail in Hummelstown to offer residents new ways to connect with the environment and engage in outdoor recreation.
- $250,000 - Capital Area Greenbelt Association, Inc. – Paxtang Parkway Creek Restoration Development
This project will restore the Paxtang Parkway Creek to enhance the natural ecosystem, improve water quality, and increase recreational access along the Capital Area Greenbelt.
- $218,000 - Swatara Street Park – Development
Improvements to Swatara Street Park will include upgraded facilities and recreational areas.
- $64,800 - Paxtang Borough – Saussaman Park Phase 2 Development
This grant will fund Phase 2 of Saussaman Park's development, which includes new amenities and infrastructure that support recreation for residents of all ages.
- $154,000 - Capital Area Greenbelt Association, Inc. – Capital Area Greenbelt Paxtang Parkway Phase 3 Development
Phase 3 of the Greenbelt’s Paxtang Parkway development will focus on trail rehabilitation and maintenance.
The DCNR C2P2 program supports Pennsylvania communities in planning, acquiring, and developing conservation and recreation projects that enhance public access, protect natural resources, and promote sustainable growth.
