2025 PA FARM SHOW

The 2025 PA Farm Show opens this Saturday, Jan. 4! I can’t wait to experience all the fun and exciting events at the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event—especially the food! Click here to see what’s featured at this year’s show, including wine tastings, a mullet contest, and a new milkshake flavor!

BUILDING BETTER WAYS TO FIGHT HUNGER

I had the honor of speaking at the first graduation of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s Neighbor Leadership Council (NLC), a groundbreaking program that amplifies the voices of local people who have lived experience with food insecurity. Elevating lived experiences is one of the most effective ways to drive change and this new program is already helping us identify gaps in services and opportunities around food resources.

Congratulations to the eight individuals of the first cohort of the NLC! Applications are now open for the second cohort of the NLC. If you or someone you know has lived experience with food insecurity and a passion for making a difference, they may apply here.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN

Women age 30 and under who are full-time college students or work in traffic safety may apply for a scholarship from the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders (NAWHSL), who will be hosting their annual conference in Pittsburgh this year! Click here to get all the details.

For more information, contact Dortha Cummins at Dortha.cummins@la.gov or call 225-925-6993.

GET HELP PAYING YOUR HEATING BILL

If you or a loved one needs help paying heating bills during the winter months, apply to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which provides cash and crisis grants to qualified households to help them stay warm and safe through the winter.

These grants range from $200 to $1,000 and are distributed directly to your utility or heating fuel supplier. Crisis grants are available for those facing a heating emergency, such as a shut-off notice or running out of heating fuel like oil, propane, or coal.

MY OFFICE IS HERE TO HELP YOU

My staff and I are here to help you with LIHEAP and any state-related issues, big or small! Never hesitate to reach out via email at RepKinkead@pahouse.net or call my office 412-321-5523.
