HAPPY HOLIDAYS

My staff and I wish a safe, warm, and happy holiday season to all! Please remember that if you or a loved one needs assistance with any state programs or services, my office is here to help.

Applying for heating bill , assisting with PennDOT issues, and navigating unemployment compensation are just a few of the many state-related issues we can help you with.

Reach out at RepKinkead@pahouse.net, call 412-321-5523, or stop by the district office at 658 Lincoln Ave. in Bellevue.

BELLEVUE BEANS TOY DRIVE

Bellevue Police are hosting a toy drive this year! They’re collecting new, unwrapped toys at Bellevue Beans through Dec. 20. The police will then take these toys to Northgate High School for students to wrap and then deliver to children around Bellevue for the holidays.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING FOR AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE

If you’ve been doing some holiday shopping lately, right now is also a great time to shop for a new health care plan with Pennie, the state’s official health insurance marketplace.

Nearly nine out of 10 Pennie customers currently qualify for lower premiums. On average, Pennie customers save over $6,000 a year. Don’t wait – you must apply by Dec. 15 to get coverage starting on Jan. 1. All health plans offered through Pennie cover essential services like hospital care, mental health support, prescriptions, maternity care and more.?

Visit pennie.com to get more information.

Additionally, Medicare's annual enrollment window ends Dec. 7. Now is the time for Medicare beneficiaries to review and adjust their plans for the coming year.

SUPPORT VETERANS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Over the holiday season, the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is encouraging Pennsylvanians to consider donating to the Veterans’ Trust Fund, the Military Family Relief Assistance Program, or other tax-deductible programs that support PA’s nearly 700,000 veterans, service members, and their families.

GIVE THE GIFT OF EDUCATION

Children quickly outgrow toys and clothes, so why not give them the gift of education with the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program this year? Consider a PA 529 account to save for a child’s future, no matter what path they take.

Contributions to a PA 529 account made by Dec. 31, 2024, qualify for deductions on 2024 PA state income taxes, including those made by a gift giver. With PA 529, you have two plans to choose from: the PA 529 Investment Plan (IP) and the PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan (GSP).

The PA 529 IP has several investment options to choose from. The PA 529 GSP allows families to lock in today’s tuition rates to pay for tomorrow’s tuition costs. Contributions received by Dec. 31, 2024, to a PA 529 GSP account qualify for up to $100 in matching contributions, potentially doubling your gift!

The best part about both plans is their great flexibility to save and pay for a wide variety of technical, collegiate, apprenticeship and K-12 expenses. Saving with PA 529 also comes with big tax advantages and doesn’t impact a student’s eligibility for Pennsylvania state financial aid.
