Parker brings in $2.5 million in state funding for district

State Rep. Darisha Parker affirmed her commitment to uplift her community by securing $2.5 million for community gathering spaces in her legislative district.

“Uplifting our community is one of my biggest priorities as a state representative,” Parker said. “This funding will go a long way to help provide youth with positive activities and spaces for us to come together for the betterment of our neighborhood.”

The community spaces awarded funding include:

  • Golaski Labs Community Hub - $500,000
  • Happy Hollow Playground - $1 million
  • Nicetown Sport Court - $500,000
  • UAC PNC North Broad Community Connection Center - $500,000

The funding was awarded through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. The program grants for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
