“Updating community spaces, making them ADA-compliant, and the installation of new equipment for additional activities is an integral part of uplifting and empowering our neighborhoods,” Parker said. “Our recreation centers provide a safe space for the neighbors to gather and engage in activities that promote health, well-being and a sense of community.”

The recreation centers awarded include:

  • Nicetown Sports Court
    • $250,000
  • Cherashore Playground

The Statewide Local Share Account funding comes from the Pennsylvania Racehorse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
