HARRISBURG, Nov. 17 – State Rep. Joe Webster, D-Montgomery, announced today more than $255,000 in Safe School grants are headed to his legislative district.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education awards the competitive grants to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment and to provide for training and compensation of school resource and police officers.
“Knowing our local police departments work so closely with our local school districts provides great relief for me and for all families across our region and state,” Webster said. “This grant program helps ensure students, teachers and law enforcement officers in our community have the opportunity to learn and work in environments where safety is a top priority. I offer my congratulations to those on the receiving end of this crucial funding.”
As part of the more than $9 million in statewide funding, a total of $258,294 is set for distribution among the following schools in the 150th Legislative District:
