Webster, Bradford honor FC Montco Dragons in Pennsylvania House

HARRISBURG, June 18 – State Reps. Joe Webster and Matt Bradford, both D-Montgomery, joined Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton in the state House chamber yesterday to honor the FC Montco Dragons, a Montgomery County-based youth soccer club whose U16 squad captured the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer State Cup Championship on May 16.

“I’m proud to celebrate a team that exemplifies dedication, teamwork and community pride,” Webster said. “Congratulations to each of the players and Coach Liam Woods, who has spent years with the club and installed a program that is undoubtedly integral to the club’s success.”

The Dragons’ championship is the result of a multi-year development program focused on technical skill, physical conditioning and tactical awareness led by Head Coach and Technical Director Woods. His roots are in youth soccer in the United Kingdom and have brought him to the United States, where he served FC Montco for many years as a trainer before also taking on coaching duties. He built the team’s foundation from the ground up, emphasizing discipline, trust and continuity between players and staff.

Speaker McClinton recognized the Dragons on the House floor, with Representatives Webster and Bradford joining in the tribute to the players, coaching staff and families who supported the team’s journey to the state title. The honor highlights the club’s commitment to Coach Woods’ vision and the positive impact of youth sports in the community.

“Coach Woods, his staff and these young athletes have shown what sustained investment in youth development can achieve,” Webster said. “I look forward to watching them on the pitch in the future!”
