Sanchez welcomes state funding for Rockledge Borough paving project
Rep. Ben Sanchez August 19, 2026 | 10:18 AM
ROCKLEDGE, Aug. 19 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez today announced that Rockledge Borough has been awarded $77,189 through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support the repaving of two heavily traveled streets in the borough.
The project will repave Loney Street from Thompson to the dead end and Burke Street from Thompson to South Central, two streets identified as being among the borough’s most pressing roadway needs.
“Safe, well-maintained roads are essential to our communities,” Sanchez said. “This investment will help Rockledge Borough address infrastructure needs on streets that residents use every day. I’m pleased to support this funding and help bring state resources back to our local communities.”
The project was developed in consultation with Rockledge Borough’s Department of Public Works and borough engineer.
The funding comes through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants for priority transportation investments across Pennsylvania. The program is designed to help municipalities and other eligible entities improve transportation assets, enhance communities and pedestrian safety, and support transit revitalization.
The grant is part of a statewide investment announced by Gov. Josh Shapiro, which includes $54 million for 50 highway, bridge, aviation, port, bicycle and pedestrian projects across 27 Pennsylvania counties.
“Investments like this demonstrate what we can accomplish when state and local governments work together to address infrastructure needs,” Sanchez said. “I look forward to seeing this project move forward and deliver improved road conditions for the people of Rockledge.”
Sanchez represents the 153rd District, which includes Rockledge and parts of Abington and Upper Dublin in Montgomery County.
