Sanchez announces $2M state grant for cancer treatment option at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Abington Township

ABINGTON, Dec. 6 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez, D-Montgomery, today announced that Holy Redeemer Hospital has been selected to receive a $2 million grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

Funding will go toward the construction of a Linear Accelerator Vault. This vault will provide radiation shielding during cancer treatments. Construction includes site preparation, renovation and the internal fit-out for the LINAC vault. The project will also renovate 2,300 square feet of existing space and add an additional 1,760 square feet.

“This grant will help modernize Holy Redeemer’s cancer treatment options and assist those battling this diagnosis,” Sanchez said. “LINAC vaults are complex, yet effective pieces of technology that can destroy cancer cells without harming surrounding tissue. I’m confident that this investment will have a tremendous impact on Pennsylvanians battling cancer and our area’s medical capabilities.”
