Sanchez highlights $45K Digital Literacy grant for Manor College

JENKINTOWN, May 4 – Noting the impossible-to-overstate need for digital literacy skills for those seeking employment in today’s job market, state Rep. Ben Sanchez highlighted a $45,000 Digital Literacy and Workforce Development Grant for Manor College.

The funding awarded to the Jenkintown college is part of a $1.3 million statewide investment announced last week by the Department of Labor & Industry to support local programs that provide computer skills and training to help people find good jobs in Pennsylvania.

Manor College has long been a gem in our community, an institution that helps young and/or eager minds prepare for career advancement and employment opportunities,” said Sanchez, D-Montgomery. “This is a worthwhile investment from L&I to ensure students of today will be productive employees of tomorrow.”

The college’s program – Manor College Career Mindset: Readiness and Job Search Training – helps the students and public at large with in-class and online training for career readiness and in job searches, according to L&I’s news release. The project will develop a curriculum for career readiness and job search training and will also support a facilitator who works with faculty to enhance the career readiness they teach in class.

“Manor College is honored to be part of the Department of Labor & Industry’s Digital Literacy Program,” president Jonathan Peri said. “For our students and our neighbors in the community, we know that being able to successfully navigate the online job application process is paramount. This will help everyone be more competitive in the marketplace, and it will go a long way toward improving lives.

“At Manor College, we know today’s job market requires not only the kinds of in-demand skills our faculty provides, but also the tools and guidance to best avail yourself of new opportunities. We look forward to being part of this program.”
