HARRISBURG, Nov. 16 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez, D-Montgomery, announced today $26,000 in safe school grants has been awarded to Abington School District.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education awards the competitive grants to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment, and to provide training for and compensation of school resource and police officers.
“Abington School District has consistently made safety a top priority by partnering with the Abington Police Department to create a safe school environment for all students,” Sanchez said. “I’m happy to see additional funding directed toward these efforts.”
Abington School District is to receive $19,625 in program grants, plus $6,375 in equipment grants.
