MUHLENBERG, Sept. 16 – Delivering a line-drive base hit for local baseball and softball fans, state Rep. Mark Rozzi today announced a $29,000 grant for the Muhlenberg Township Athletic Association to install new fencing and batting cages.
The funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development was secured with assistance from Rozzi, who knows the athletic association quite well.
“Considering I grew up here and spent countless hours playing ball on these fields, I am beyond excited that the DCED approved this funding,” said Rozzi, who’s represented the 126th Legislative District in Berks County since 2012 and makes his home in Muhlenberg Township.
“The improvements that will be made via this grant will not only directly impact the kids in this community, but I’m predicting it will help some of us ‘older’ kids want to relive the magic of our youth, too. I know I’m looking forward to taking a few swings in the new cages!”
Brad Coley of the Muhlenberg Township Athletic Association thanked Rozzi for helping secure the grant.
“We are so appreciative of the work and advocating Representative Rozzi continues to do for our organization,” Coley said. “He has been pivotal in the continued improvements we’ve been making at our facility and the success we’ve had as an organization.”
