HARRISBURG, April 14 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi and state Sen. Judy Schwank announced a $32,500 grant has been approved for the West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation as part of the state’s COVID-19 Relief – Supporting Elm and Main program.
“COVID-19 has affected so many parts of our everyday lives, so I’m proud to see the state step in to lend a hand to make certain important community organizations cannot only survive during these trying times, but also continue the important work and services they provide,” Rozzi said.
The COVID-19 Relief – Supporting Elm and Main program is responsible for supporting community revitalization organizations dedicated to the community and economic development in older and historic downtowns, commercial districts and neighborhoods.
“I’m delighted that the Borough of West Reading will benefit from this grant,” Schwank said. “They have been on the cutting edge of communities in Berks County, and the commonwealth, in regards to promoting outstanding Main Street and Elm Street projects. I know this funding will go to good use.”
West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation was one of 43 organizations approved for funding Wednesday. A statewide list of approved funding can be found here.
West Reading created the West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation in 1997 to combat crime, falling rates of home ownership and public infrastructure issues.
