Neilson praises workers of I-95 and Gov. Shapiro

Says that completing I-95 reconstruction so fast is an amazing feat

State Rep. Neilson, chair of the House Transportation Committee, said he is elated at Gov. Josh Shapiro and state Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll’s announcement that I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia will be ready for motorists as soon as this weekend.

“It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we come together and work for the betterment of Pennsylvania,” Neilson said. “I am incredibly grateful to the crews of the Philadelphia Building Trades that have worked around the clock to complete this project not only fast, but safely, as well.”

Neilson said he is also thankful for Shapiro and Carroll’s leadership during this time and the collaboration of state, local and federal government for doing this in record speed.

“This weekend, the hardworking men and women of the Philadelphia Building Trades made huge progress by filling the gap with a foamed glass aggregate which came from Delaware County,” he said.

“Ninety-five is such an important artery here in the Northeast,” Neilson said. “Everyone came out to help when we needed it and I’m full of gratitude for each and every person who made a difference on this.”
