HARRISBURG, Feb. 16 – State Rep. Jeanne McNeill today announced a total of $117,907 was awarded to eight fire/EMS companies in her community.
“Firefighters, both volunteers and full-time, and EMS workers provide safety to many throughout not only my community, but to many communities throughout the commonwealth,” McNeill said. “Anytime that I can help acquire funding for these important institutions that positively impact those who live in my community, I am all for it, and I am proud that this funding is going toward our safety.”
The grants include:
Act 91 of 2020 (H.B. 1673), which McNeill voted for, reauthorized the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program until June 30, 2024, meaning that if the program is to continue, it must be reauthorized this year.
In his budget address, Gov. Josh Shapiro proposed doubling the size of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program to a total of $60 million.
