I want to share with you some valuable information on state programs and services and exciting updates from around the district. I am proud to share that I helped secure more than $4.2 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funding for projects that will strengthen our community, improve local infrastructure, and support future economic growth.

These investments are about more than bricks and mortar, they’re about creating opportunities, improving quality of life, and ensuring that our region continues to thrive for years to come.

The funding includes:

• $2.75 million for the Lehigh Valley International Airport to construct a new five-level parking garage. The project will add approximately 1,000 public parking spaces, more than double the number of ADA-accessible parking spaces, and include electric vehicle charging stations, elevators, and other modern improvements that will better serve residents and visitors alike.
• $1.2 million for Whitehall Township to redevelop a long-vacant property into a new commercial or mixed-use development. Revitalizing this site will help spur economic activity, attract investment, and put an underused property back to work for our community.
• $250,000 for Allentown Central Catholic High School to build a new multi-purpose athletic complex featuring a turf field, running track, spectator seating, lighting, and other amenities that will benefit student-athletes and the broader community.

I was proud to work alongside Sen. Nick Miller to advocate for these projects because they reflect the priorities of our region. Investing in transportation infrastructure, economic development, and community spaces helps create jobs, supports local businesses, and makes the Lehigh Valley an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

I remain committed to bringing state resources back to our district and fighting for investments that make a lasting difference in our communities.

Last week was an especially heartbreaking week for the Lehigh County community. Multiple lives were lost to suicide, leaving families, friends, and neighbors grieving unimaginable loss.

These tragedies are a painful reminder that mental health affects every community and that many people may be carrying struggles we cannot see. During difficult times, checking in on a loved one, listening without judgment, or simply letting someone know they are not alone can make a meaningful difference.

If you are facing emotional distress or thoughts of suicide, please know that help is available. You do not have to go through it alone. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By calling or texting 988, you can connect with a trained counselor who is ready to listen and help.

If you know someone who might be struggling, don’t be afraid to reach out. A simple conversation, a kind word, or an offer to listen could have a lasting impact.

My thoughts are with every family and loved ones mourning these heartbreaking losses. As a community, let us continue to care for one another, support those who may be struggling, and remind each other that asking for help is a sign of courage.

PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Department of Education have launched a competitive grant program to expand career pathways in the Heavy Highway Industry. Eligible educational institutions – including K-12 schools, career centers, and colleges – can apply for up to $50,000 to fund training, certifications, and on-the-job learning for skilled trades like welding, electrical work, and surveying.

With 92% of contractors struggling to fill positions and 41% of the workforce set to retire by 2031, the $12 million program addresses critical shortages. Applications must demonstrate collaboration with industry partners. The new competitive grant program will accept applications until Sept. 1.

The Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, is Pennsylvania’s program to provide health insurance for kids and teens who need it, but it’s not just for those on low incomes. Some parents might think their kids can’t get CHIP coverage because they make too much money. Not true!

CHIP covers uninsured kids and teens up to age 19 who are not eligible for medical assistance. Apply today: chipcoverspakids.com.

It was wonderful to join Sen. Nick Miller, Coplay Borough officials and members of the community to celebrate the grand opening of Coplay’s new pickleball courts.

This project was made possible through a $181,900 Act 13 grant that Sen. Miller and I secured in 2025. These new courts are an investment in Coplay, providing a place where residents of all ages can stay active, spend time with family and friends, and build community for years to come.

This project was also the vision of the late Mayor Steve Burker, who worked tirelessly to make these courts a reality. I was proud to help secure the state funding needed to bring his vision to life, and I know he would be proud to see the community enjoying this new addition to the borough.
