HARRISBURG, April 13 – Today the state legislature welcomed its two newest members, Rep. Catherine Wallen, R- Adams/Cumberland, and Rep. Andrea Verobish, R- Blair. Cumberland County Common Pleas Judge Sasha Sacavage administered their oath of office.
Wallen and Verobish were elected to serve their communities in special elections last month.
“Swearing in new members is always a special occasion in the state House of Representatives,” Speaker Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, said. “Both Representatives Wallen and Verobish bring with them a wealth of experience in public service that they will leverage in their new roles as state lawmakers.
“I’m confident that the more than 120,000 Pennsylvanians they collectively represent will benefit from having such dedicated elected officials as their voice in Harrisburg.”
McClinton noted that the state House has been advancing legislation to strengthen communities around the commonwealth and help Pennsylvanians of all ages and has passed more than 320 bills this session.
McClinton added that last month the state House welcomed Reps. Jen Mazzoco, D-Allegheny, and Ana Tiburcio, D-Lehigh, setting a new record for women’s representation in this chamber. Now with the addition of Wallen and Verobish, the chamber has surpassed last month’s milestone and now has 66 women serving.
