State House welcomes new member Rep. Jeff Olsommer

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives welcomed its newest member, state Rep. Jeff Olsommer, R-Wayne/Pike.

HARRISBURG, May 21 – Today, the state House of Representatives welcomed its newest member, state Rep. Jeff Olsommer, R-Wayne/Pike.

Olsommer was elected to serve the communities of Cherry Ridge, Dreher, Lake, Lehigh, Palmyra, Paupack, Salem, South Canaan and Sterling townships and Hawley Borough in Wayne County, and Blooming Grove, Dingman, Greene, Lackawaxen, Milford, Palmyra, Shohola, and Westfall townships, and Matamoras and Milford boroughs in Pike County, in a special election last month.

“Swearing in a new member is always a special occasion in the state House of Representatives,” Speaker Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, said. “Newly sworn in Representative Olsommer brings valuable experience from his time in local government and the private sector to our institution and will be a strong advocate for his neighbors in northeast Pennsylvania.”

McClinton added that Olsommer is joining the state House at a busy time, as the House will soon kick off four weeks of back-to-back session to negotiate and pass a state budget, which will tackle issues like reforming Pennsylvania’s school funding, cutting costs for working families, helping seniors thrive in their communities and strengthening public safety.

“The House has sent more than 300 bills to the Senate, a majority of them with bipartisan support,” McClinton said. “Despite the Senate’s inaction, the House will not be deterred from advancing meaningful bills that would aid Pennsylvania’s communities and families.”

With the addition of Olsommer, the state House returns to its full complement of 203 members.
