PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 22 – Pennsylvania House Democratic Majority Leader Joanna McClinton, D-Phila/Delaware, today announced a $2 million grant for the redevelopment of Bartram Village in southwest Philadelphia.
McClinton said the funding, supported through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, was awarded to Pennrose PHL LLC, which will redevelop Bartram Village into high-quality, mixed-income housing.
“Neighbors deserve affordable housing that is safe, thriving and accessible. These renovations will offer this without putting a financial strain on our working-class families,” McClinton said. “My office will continue to support funding of this nature in the future.”
Renovations will include converting Bartram Village into mixed-income, high-quality housing that will include eight one-bedroom units; 31 two-bedroom units; 23 three-bedroom units, and two four-bedroom units. McClinton said the renovations also will include new community space, parks and additional recreational areas.
RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of the Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
