York Expo Center will house WellSpan Health COVID-19 testing for York County
Rep. Carol Hill-Evans March 19, 2020 | 2:45 PM
WellSpan Health is planning an open-air COVID-19 coronavirus testing location at the York Expo Center, which is set to open tomorrow, Friday, March 20. This is part of our ongoing effort to meet the COVID-19 challenge head-on by removing barriers to care for patients and constituents.
As with all WellSpan open-air testing locations, this test collection location is not for walk-in patients. This is intended to serve patients who were previously evaluated by a clinician and for whom testing is recommended. Patients seeking testing should call (not visit) their primary care provider for screening and assessment.
WellSpan care teams will accept physician referrals through WellSpan’s Epic electronic health record or through a printed referral note from a licensed medical provider. The hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, beginning Friday, March 20 at 7 a.m.
The York Expo Center offers a larger, centrally located area to conduct testing more quickly and efficiently. In addition, it will allow WellSpan to safely test people while they remain in their vehicles – offering a convenient and safer testing area for both patients and care teams.
A reminder that consumers can use the self-assessment tool on WellSpan.org/coronavirus to check their risk for COVID-19. In addition, assessments can be conducted by the WellSpan Online Urgent Care service. Patients without a primary care provider are encouraged to call the toll-free Coronavirus Information Hotline at 855-851-3641.
