Davis: $1.4 million project will improve Bristol Twp. safety

Construction addresses pedestrian safety along New Falls Road

LEVITTOWN, March 24 – State Rep. Tina Davis, D-Bucks, announced the state Transportation Department has awarded a $1,436,179 construction contract to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow along a 1-mile stretch of New Falls Road.

“I’m grateful for the dedication of funds to increase safety measures and improve the visibility of pedestrians and traffic flow along New Falls Road,” Davis said. “Sadly, accidents in recent years along this corridor have illustrated the need for improvement and it has been a concern for residents. This safety improvement plan directly addresses those concerns.”

The project will take place along New Falls Road between Durham Road and Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Bristol and Middletown townships. Construction is slated to begin this spring and finish in spring 2024. Crews will install sidewalks, crosswalk markings, signal equipment, ADA-compliant curb ramps and left-turn traffic signals – to address traffic concerns.

The project is financed with federal funds.

No traffic detours are expected to be implemented during construction; instead, flaggers will be utilized. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured away from the project during construction.
