Statement on police-involved shooting and fire in East Lansdowne

UPPER DARBY, Feb. 9 – State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, released the following statement following a police-involved shooting at a house fire on Wednesday afternoon where sadly, an entire family perished. An officer from the East Lansdowne Police Department and the Lansdowne Police Department suffered gunshot injuries and are expected to recover.

“This is a devastating loss for our community in East Lansdowne and the effects are being felt throughout Delaware County and beyond," Curry said. “I am grateful that our community knows how to come together and aid others at such a difficult time. We are reeling but we are resilient! Big thanks to all of the first responders involved in the incident for their quick response and ability to adapt to such an unpredictable situation and special thanks to the injured officers who are making progress in their recovery. In the aftermath of tragedy, our community will continue to stand strong and support all who need resources as we remember and continue to learn more about the impact this family had in East Lansdowne.”
