Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,
|
|
We’re just over one month away from Inspi-HER’d, my annual field day for girls in fourth through eighth grade. Inspi-HER’d is more than just outdoor games – it’s a way for girls in our community to learn about their physical and mental wellness and worth, to meet like-minded neighbors, and to engage with leaders and organizations right here in Delco who are committed to helping them grow into vibrant, strong adult women.
Inspi-HER’d attendees get to participate in activities from Zumba and martial arts to dancing, and more! The event is entirely free, and lunch is included.
This is our fifth year hosting Inspi-HER’d for the fabulous young women in our community. It’s my favorite event of the year. I hope to see you there!

Earlier this week, Governor Shapiro signed an Executive Order restricting data center development in PA. This is big news for so many Pennsylvania communities – including ours – where data center developers have either already started the proposal process to build or shown interest in establishing.
The Executive Order mandates that any data center developers must:
- Pay the full cost of electricity and infrastructure needed to power their project, without shifting costs to residents
- Commit to full transparency with local residents and leaders often and early, so that communities can have meaningful conversations about the impact of the project
- Hire and train local workers and enter meaningful community benefit agreements
- Meet the highest standards of environmental protection and strict water conservation requirements
It also removes all data center proposals from the Fast Track permitting process and the use of nondisclosure agreements for data center projects – paving the way for more transparency and more time for municipalities to consider whether they want to support projects proposed in their communities.
You can read the Executive Order for yourself here.

Learn about preventive services for women
|
Did you know that most insurance plans cover a wide range of preventive services with no out-of-pocket cost? Many women don’t realize they have access to certain services that can help them keep a better eye on their health.
To raise awareness, the Shapiro administration launched the Women’s Health Benefits Tour, events they’re hosting statewide to help women learn about preventive services their health plan should cover, and to allow attendees time to ask questions and share their experiences with healthcare in PA.
The tour will be in our area at 10 a.m. next Wednesday, August 26 at the Parkway Central Library, 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia.

A fond farewell to our summer 2026 interns!
|
Yesterday we celebrated our summer interns Jaden and Rihad before they head back to school. I am so proud of the hard work they put in with our office and for the honor of watching them gain skills and insight all summer long!
Thank you for everything, Jaden and Rihad!

Meeting with the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania
|
Healthcare is such a huge topic in Delco, and this week I met with leaders from HAP, the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of PA. Arielle Chortanoff, HAP’s vice president of state advocacy, Sarah Lawver, senior director of state advocacy, and Jake Felker, HAP's director of political engagement and executive director of PA Coalition for Patients, came to my office to discuss medical liability in healthcare.
Conversations like these help representatives stay well-informed so that we can take our learning to Harrisburg when we need to discuss and vote on legislation. I am grateful to HAP for taking the time to have this important conversation!

Important to Know: Changes coming to PA Medicaid in 2027
|
Beginning in January 2027, some Pennsylvania Medicaid recipients aged 19-64 will see changes to their coverage requirements under a new federal law. The PA Department of Human Services is providing information now, so individuals have time to prepare before these changes take effect.
For some adults, MA coverage will need to be renewed every six months instead of annually. In addition, some recipients will be required to meet and report work and community engagement requirements to maintain their Medicaid coverage.
There are a few simple steps you can take now to help ensure you continue receiving important notices from DHS:
If you receive a notice from DHS, need to submit requested information, or have questions about your Medicaid coverage, my office is here to help. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need assistance navigating these upcoming changes.
To read more about these changes, visit PA DHS.
